„Knowing Christ … and making Him known.“ First Christian Church of Chula Vista

Faith Statement

What We Believe

1. In essential beliefs -we have unity. There is one body and one Spirit--just as  you were called to one hope when you were called-one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
(Ephesians 4:4-6 NIV)

2. In non-essential beliefs - we have liberty. Accept him whole faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. ... Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand. ... So then. each of us will give an account of himself to God. So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.

(Romans 14: 1, 4. 12, 22 NlV)

3. In all our beliefs- we have charity. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if l have a faith that  can move mountains, but have not love, 1 am nothing.

(1 Corinthians 13:2 NlV)

Welcome!

Welcome to First Christian Church, an independent Christian church in the Restoration tradition.

We are here to "Know Christ and make Him known." Our desire is that every person we come in contact with might know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, becoming like him in every way.

Paul gives us an example when he says to the Philippians: I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection of the dead. (Philippians 3:10,11)

Our desire is to grow every person up in Christ through Worthy Worship, Dynamic Discipleship and Selfless Service. John records the words of Jesus concerning worthy worship, writing: God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship him in spirit and in truth. Peter speaks to dynamic discipleship when he writes: ...grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! (2 Peter 3:18)

Jesus gives himself as an example of selfless service, saying: the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. (Matthew 20:28)

If you desire to know Christ and to worship him and the Father, to grow in your knowledge of the Word of God, and to become a selfless servant of others, then this is the place for you. Here we will practice transformational living, through knowing Christ, intimately and personally. Jesus said: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me... (Matthew 11:28)
